Mold Ejector Pins

Ejector Pins-the key “small mold parts” of industrial manufacturing and our “JinChen” advantages

In the vast system of industrial manufacturing, the mold ejector pin, as a key small part in the mold, is small in size but plays an indispensable role. Its existence is like a tiny gear in a precision instrument. It may seem insignificant, but it directly affects the smoothness of the entire production process and the quality of the products.

Mold ejector pins, usually made of steel or alloy materials, can be classified into various types such as positioning ejector pins, demolding ejector pins, ejector pin seats and pneumatic ejector pins based on usage and structural forms. despite its small size, the variety is really rich. By shape, there are common round ejector pins, square, hexagonal and octagonal ejector pins used in molds with special requirements, and flat ejector pins used when round ejector pins cannot be placed at the edge of the product or in deep bone positions. In terms of application, there are forming ejector pins used for pressing and shape forming in molds, positioning ejector pins used for confirming the position of mold parts and often used in the mold assembly process, and piercing ejector pins used for creating holes in molds. Different types of ejector pins each perform their own duties and jointly ensure the normal operation of the mold.

The main functions of the mold ejector pin include positioning, demolding and improving the mold structure. In terms of positioning, the positioning center pin is like a precise coordinate, used to precisely position the parts with positioning holes in the mold or between the mold plates, strictly controlling the relative positions between the parts, thereby ensuring the dimensional accuracy and consistency of the products. Just like precise measurement and positioning when building high-rise buildings, ensuring that the position of each floor and every room is exactly the same, laying a solid foundation for subsequent construction. When demolding, the demolding ejector pin is like a pair of gentle yet powerful hands, used to control the demolding of the product on the mold. To ensure product integrity, some products need to add demolding ejector pins during the molding process to ensure that the products can be correctly demolded after molding and avoid problems such as damage and deformation of the products. During the mold design process, the ejector pin can also ingeniously improve the structure of the mold, making it more stable and efficient during operation.

The materials of mold ejector pins are diverse, and different materials have their own unique properties. SKH51 is a high-speed steel material with excellent toughness, hardness and wear resistance. It is like an all-round player and can perform well in various complex working environments. It is particularly suitable for mold ejector pins that require high wear resistance. SKD61 is a high-quality alloy steel with excellent thermal stability and oxidation resistance. It can withstand temperatures up to 1600℃. After nitriding treatment on its surface, its wear resistance is significantly enhanced, as if wearing a solid armor. It can work stably under harsh conditions such as high temperature and high pressure, and is suitable for the production of most mold center pins. However, the 65Mn material center pins, due to their poor quality, are prone to breakage, just like a weak soldier who cannot withstand high-intensity work. As a result, most plastic molds are no longer assembled or used. In addition, there is S136 stainless steel material, which has excellent anti-rust performance and toughness, and is usually used to produce plastic part mold ejector pins with high surface finish requirements. Powder high-speed steel material, with a hardness generally ranging from HRC64 to 68, features high wear resistance and strength, making it particularly suitable for processing mold ejector pins with extremely high hardness. Tungsten steel ejector pins, featuring high hardness, strength, wear resistance and excellent corrosion resistance, are widely used in plastic molds, lathes, grinders and other fields.

In actual production, mold ejectors are widely used in various molds. In the injection mold of plastic product molds, ejectors are like the “escort messengers” of the product, pushing the injection molded parts out of the mold steadily. In the stamping mold of metal product molds, ejectors push stamping parts or waste materials out of the mold to ensure the smooth progress of the stamping process. Rubber product molds and casting molds are also inseparable from ejectors, which are responsible for pushing rubber products and castings out of the mold. Even in molds of high-end industries such as electronics, automobiles, and aerospace, ejectors play a key role, providing strong support for the precision manufacturing of these industries.

Below, we will introduce the application, materials, functions, uses and advantages of ours.
Application of ejector pins:

Ejector pins are widely used in the following fields:

Automotive parts molding: essential for manufacturing engine parts and interior parts.

Electronic components: used for molding of precision plastic parts.

Household appliances: used for high-precision molding of complex-shaped parts.

Medical devices: suitable for producing high-quality, hygienic parts.

Material and function:

In order to maximize the performance of ejector pins, it is crucial to choose the right material. Our company “JinChen” provides high-quality ejector pins made of the following materials:

High carbon steel: high hardness, good wear resistance and long service life.

Stainless steel: has excellent corrosion resistance and can provide stable performance even in harsh environments.

Tool steel: resistant to high temperature and high pressure, suitable for extreme conditions.

The main function of ejector pins is to enable the molded product to be removed from the mold smoothly, thereby improving the efficiency of the molding process and reducing defective products.
